Warranty Policy
What we cover, for how long, and exactly how to make a warranty claim. Every unit that leaves our Sukhdarshanpur workshop carries our name — so the warranty is plain English, not a wall of disclaimers.
This Warranty Policy applies to every product manufactured or supplied by Shiv Engineering & Elevators ("SEE") from our Sukhdarshanpur workshop, where (a) SEE has issued the tax invoice, (b) the product has been installed by SEE or by an installer authorised by SEE in writing, and (c) all invoice payments have been received in full. This Warranty is given in addition to, and does not affect, any rights you have under applicable consumer-protection law in India.
Standard warranty term
The standard warranty period is 12 months from the date of commissioning, evidenced by the Commissioning Report signed at handover. Where the equipment is not commissioned within 90 days of dispatch from our workshop for reasons attributable to the customer, the warranty period commences on the 91st day after dispatch.
A 12-month warranty covers components against manufacturing defect. It is not the same as an AMC, which covers preventive maintenance, lubrication, service visits and consumables. Most of our customers run a SEE AMC alongside the warranty so the unit is looked after on day-zero rather than only when something breaks.
Warranty by product family
Where a product family has terms that differ from the standard 12-month warranty above, the specifics are summarised below. The longer of the two applies.
| Product family | Warranty term | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Passenger & home elevators | 12 months on equipment, 36 months on machine traction sheave | Subject to IS 14665 operating conditions |
| Hospital lifts | 12 months on equipment, 24 months on door operator | Excludes accidental damage to door panels |
| Goods lifts (single & double-mast hydraulic) | 12 months on equipment, 24 months on hydraulic power-pack | Subject to rated load and duty cycle |
| EOT & jib cranes | 12 months on structural and mechanical | Rated capacity not to be exceeded |
| Scissor lifts, dock levelers | 12 months on equipment | — |
| Hand pallet trucks & manual stackers | 12 months on chassis, 6 months on wheels and bearings | Industrial-floor use, not for outdoor use |
| Electric stackers & battery-operated pallet trucks | 12 months on electrics, 6 months on battery | Battery warranty pro-rated thereafter |
| Plastic pallets, bins, crates, tables | 6 months against manufacturing defect | Excludes wear and tear |
| Lift spares (OEM-match) | 6 months against manufacturing defect | From date of invoice |
What's covered
During the warranty period, we will repair or replace, at our option and at no cost to you (other than as set out in Section 4):
- Manufacturing defects in components fabricated at our workshop — cabin, structure, doors, platforms, mast, drive frame.
- Defects in materials for components sourced by us — motors, controllers, hydraulic kit, contactors, ropes, governors.
- Workmanship defects arising from the SEE installation — fitment, wiring, alignment.
- Labour and travel of our engineer for warranty-covered repairs within the standard service region.
- Replacement parts dispatched ex-workshop for warranty-covered repairs.
What's NOT covered
This warranty does not cover:
- Wear-and-tear items — brake pads, door rollers, contact tips, fuses, bulbs, paint, plastic guards.
- Consumables — oil, grease, hydraulic fluid, cleaning supplies.
- Damage from misuse, abuse or overload — operating the equipment beyond its rated capacity, speed or duty cycle.
- Damage from unauthorised modification or service — repairs, swaps or modifications carried out by anyone other than SEE or an installer authorised by SEE in writing.
- Damage from civil-work defects — shaft out of plumb, pit ingress water, machine-room temperature exceedance, building settlement.
- Damage from electrical-supply faults — voltage surge, brown-out, phase reversal, single-phasing, lightning strike. Recommendation: install a surge protection device on the controller incoming line.
- Cosmetic damage after installation — scratches, dents, paint scuffs noticed after the Commissioning Report is signed.
- Force majeure events — fire, flood, earthquake, vandalism, war, riot.
- Equipment not installed by SEE — if a third party installed the equipment, only material warranty (against manufacturing defect) applies; labour and travel for repairs are chargeable.
- Statutory inspection fees, fines or penalties.

Response times
Targets for warranty claims within our standard service region (33 Indian cities — see Find Us for the current list):
| Claim type | Acknowledgement | Engineer on site |
|---|---|---|
| Lift stopped & passengers stranded | Within 30 minutes | ≤ 4 hours (metro) · ≤ 8 hours (Ring-2) |
| Lift functional but with major fault | Within 2 hours | ≤ 24 hours |
| Minor fault (door slow, light out) | Within 4 hours | ≤ 72 hours |
| Spare-part defect (DOA) | Within 4 hours | Dispatch ≤ 48 hours |
For sites outside the standard service region, the engineer travel time is added to the targets above. We will give you a specific ETA at the time of acknowledgement.
AMC continuity bonus
Where a SEE AMC is in place at the time of expiry of the standard warranty, we offer the following continuity bonus:
- +6 months extended parts warranty on the machine traction sheave and hydraulic power-pack, automatically, at no extra cost.
- Fixed-fee renewal on the AMC for the second year (no annual escalation).
- Free annual safety audit with written report.
The continuity bonus is available only where the AMC is unbroken from the date of commissioning. A gap of more than 30 days between expiry of one AMC year and start of the next forfeits the continuity bonus for the equipment.
Out-of-warranty service
After the warranty expires, we continue to service every unit we have ever installed. Out-of-warranty service is charged at our prevailing rates, which are published in the AMC schedule applicable to your equipment, or quoted on a per-visit basis. Parts are charged at then-current price plus GST.
We commit to maintaining spare-parts availability for at least 10 years from the date of commissioning of any SEE-manufactured equipment.
Transferability
The warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner of the equipment for the unexpired portion of the warranty term, on written intimation to us with proof of ownership transfer, and subject to an inspection by our engineer to confirm the equipment has not been tampered with. A nominal inspection fee applies.
Limitations
Our liability under this Warranty Policy is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective component or the refund of the invoice value of that component, at our option. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or loss-of-profit damages, except as set out in our Terms of Service.
This warranty is governed by the laws of India and any dispute is subject to arbitration in Panchkula, Haryana, as set out in our Terms of Service.
